Privacy Policy

RaceTrain is an iPhone and Apple Watch training app made by Sentinel Media Inc., 270 West 500 North, North Salt Lake, Utah 84054, United States ("we", "us"). This policy explains what RaceTrain collects, why, where it goes, and the choices you have. The short version: your training plan lives on your phone, there is no account, nothing is sold, and the AI coach only receives what you choose to send it, after you say yes.

What stays on your device

Your profile (birth date, sex, weight, goal weight, training history and availability), your race, your training plan and your workout log are stored only on your iPhone and Apple Watch. We do not have a copy. Deleting the app deletes them.

Apple Health

With your permission, RaceTrain reads workouts and heart rate from Apple Health so sessions tick themselves off, and the Apple Watch app saves the workouts you record to Apple Health. Health data is used only to run your plan on your device. It is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, never shared with data brokers, and never sent to our servers or to an AI provider.

The AI coach and race lookup

These features are optional and ask for your consent the first time you use them. When you use them, RaceTrain sends:

• what you type or dictate to the coach, or the race name you search for; and
• for coach questions, a summary of your plan: recent and upcoming sessions, paces, goal times, race and date, your age, years of training, weight and the days you can train.

Your name, email address and contact details are not sent. The request goes to our server, which passes it to Anthropic, PBC, which runs the Claude AI model that writes the reply. Anthropic processes the request under its commercial terms, which do not allow it to train its models on this data, and may keep it for a limited period for safety and abuse monitoring. Our server does not store the content of your messages; it keeps only technical logs (time, feature used, success or error) and a random installation code used to apply daily usage limits, which resets every day.

You can keep using RaceTrain's plan without the AI features. If you allowed them and change your mind, stop using the Coach and race search; nothing more is sent.

Information we receive in other ways

• Beta and support email. If you email us to join the beta or for help, we use your name, email address and message to respond and to send beta invitations. You can ask us to delete them at any time.
• Purchases. RaceTrain is free during the beta. If we offer subscriptions, they will be handled entirely by Apple (and Google, on Android). We never see or store your card details.
• This website. racetrain.ai uses no cookies, no analytics and no advertising trackers. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for security.

Who we share with

Only the service providers that run the features above: Anthropic (AI replies), Fly.io (our AI server's hosting), Vercel (website hosting) and Apple or Google (app distribution and any purchases). Each may use the data only to provide its service to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect someone's safety.

We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use it for targeted advertising. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information may be shared with subcontractors in support services, such as customer service. Opt-in data and consent are never shared with or sold to third parties.

Text messages

RaceTrain does not currently send text messages. If we ever offer them, you will have to opt in first, message and data rates may apply, message frequency will vary, you can reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help, consent will not be a condition of any purchase, and carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Your rights and choices

• Access, correction and deletion. Data on your device is yours to edit or delete in the app, or by deleting the app. For anything we hold (such as beta emails), email us and we will respond within 30 days.
• Health permissions. Change or revoke them at any time in the iPhone Settings app under Health.
• California, Washington and other state privacy laws. You have the right to know, delete, correct and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and to not be discriminated against for using these rights. Because we do not sell or share personal information, there is nothing to opt out of; you can still contact us to exercise any right. We treat health-related information under Washington's My Health My Data Act standard everywhere: we collect it only to provide the features you use and never sell it.

Retention and security

On-device data stays until you delete it. Our server keeps no message content; technical logs are kept for up to 30 days. Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS). No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we hold to a minimum.

Children

RaceTrain is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. Race-weight guidance in the app is limited to adults 18 and over.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for material changes, tell you in the app before they take effect.
